Bilberry

Vision Complex plus Lutein

Bilberries naturally contain a variety of beneficial components, including anthocyanins and vitamin C. These components, along with lutein, help promote vision health.

Bilberries, or European blueberries, have been used for medicinal purposes for centuries. They are high in flavonoids and anthocyanins. These are antioxidants that fight the formation of free radicals. Daily intake of anthocyanins is associated with improving vision and strengthening the blood vessels in the back of the eye. They are also known to reach the blood vessels of the eye after oral administration.

The retina of the eye experiences a high amount of oxidative stress because it has the highest respiratory rate of any tissue. Antioxidants delay the degeneration of cells caused by this stress. The components from bilberries may also help prevent damage caused by pollution and dust.

Lutein is a carotenoid and is known as the “eye vitamin.” Among other activities, it is believed to protect eyes from sunlight damage by filtering light.
